The TUC is running a Cuts Briefing session which will consider what the Budget means for fairness. The briefing will consider the impact of the Budget announcements for groups including disabled people, families and people claiming Housing Benefit, as well as considering the overall impacts of the Budget’s proposals for fairness. We hope the event will provide a chance to hear expert analysis of how the Budget will hit, as well as allowing discussion of how to respond to its proposals.
The event will take place at Congress House on Wednesday 21st July from 10-1pm, and will be followed by a sandwich lunch. Registration is free - if you would like to attend pleaseregister on line
Tim Horton, Research Director at the Fabian Society will present on how spending cuts in services will affect the poorest, and on the overall distributional impact of the Budget, and Professor Ruth Lister will present on the impact of the Budget for women and children. We will also have a contribution from the housing sector, covering the Budget’s impacts for housing and homelessness. The event will be chaired by Lesley Mercer, Director of Employment Relations and Union Services, CSP.
