had not see it since it first came out and it’s better than I remember.

Sadly we need more like her.

I should watch this. Do a bunch of stupid assholes keep saying, “They’re going to kill you!” to her? Do they call her mannish?

No, the impression given is that her opponents within the SPD and also of some of her official persecutors (e.g. the prison warden) viewed her with something between grudging respect and awe.
