Tory treasure pt2: Bust bankers sponsor Tories to make you pay for their crisis..

The collapse of Lehman Brothers triggered the biggest financial crisis in living memory forcing the British government to spend £200 billion in loans, buyouts and quantitative easing.

The largest corporate collapse in human history was made worse for employees of all ranks in the UK as the bank withdraw billions through our country's porous financial borders.

Now cuts to public services more severe than under Tory Margaret Thatcher are promised by all three leading parties in the general election - which they claim are essential to pay back the cash spent after Lehman's collapse.

So are the directors of Lehman pariahs among British Establishment? Quite the opposite, four are leading donors to the Conservative party election campaign treasure chest - gambling on a Government which will force us to pay for their mistakes.

Aidan Clegg was Lehman Brothers' London managing director until the back disappeared over night and is now a key donor to David Camerson's campaign with a recent £25,000 gift to the party.

In total, the Tories have received £282,000 from four former Lehman bankers - Roger Nagioff, Jeremy Iassacs, Chris Gent and Clegg himself, according to the current issue of Private Eye.

Clegg's gift allows him to the join the Conservative "Treasurer's Group" where he is joined by Stewart Newton who was until 2008 director of HSBC while the bank built up huge exposure to the US subprime market.

The Sauce has already reported how billionaire tax dodgers, oil firms and war profiteers have all stacked their chips on a Conservative victory by donating £50,000 to become part of the "Leaders' Group".

Financial meltdown
James Lupton is also among the Treasurer's Group. He tried unsuccessfully to mastermind Richard Branson's attempts to take over Northern Rock when the bank collapsed under a mountain of bad debt.

Arbuthnot Banking Group, which used to be run by cardboard shield of justice rusty sword of truth minister Jonathan Aitken, is supporting the party with a £5m loan. Then of course there is tax-dodger Lord Ashcroft's £10 million over 10 years.

Such financial support will allow the Conservatives to spend close to the £19 million campaign budget allowed for parties standing in all 650 constituencies - twice as much as the crisis ridden Labour party can afford.

Labour is facing financial meltdown because of £18.4m in debt and 9.5m in staff costs despite £24m coming in from Britain's three biggest unions since the last election.  Nick Clegg and his Lib Dems have just £4.5m to spend.

So when you see a poster stating 'Gordon stole my job' or 'Gordon let 80,000 criminals go' remember: Lehman bankers paid for that.
